Jaehee Shin on Building Role Models
19 August, 2021
Young female architects entering their 30s have conversations with senior female architects in order to broaden the narrative of female architects in Korean history.
The authors describe the book as architectural stories requested by women and answered by women.
This book is a compilation of the results of the forum ‘Building Role Models: Architecture Spoken by Women‘, a forum organised by a group of female architects in June 2018. It contains the stories of 24 female architects, including forum presenters and architects who took part in a special interview.
Although it may be a lot to fit in one book, it is an insufficient number to fully represent the voices of Korean female architects, and we have only just begun to answer the first question. Using this record as a springboard, we hope that the narratives of female architects in Korean architecture will become richer and more mature.
