This semester, for three weeks in a row, master and bachelor students of the Studio Caruso at the ETH Zurich meet for the reading circle. By group, they perform a text of the reader in one of the three sites studied. After which, the whole studio, including the teaching team, gathered to discuss what happened. The annotations accompanying this collection are issued from these discussions.

READING CIRCLE 1: The Restitution of African Cultural Heritage: Toward a New Relational Ethics, discussed at the Rietberg Museum in Zürich

On the 1st of November, Simon, Blanca, Chiara, Baldouin, Leander, Maud, Anna, Camilla, Laura, Léa, Romina, and Vivian, invited the studio to a critical guided tour at the Rietberg Museum in Zürich. The visit was inspired by the report entitled “ The Restitution of African Cultural Heritage: Toward a New Relational Ethics” commissioned by the French government to Bénédicte Savoy and Felwine Sarr. READING CIRCLE 2: The Triumphant Progress of Market Success, discussed at Löwenbräukunst in Zürich

On the 8th of November, Julian, Nicolai, Dan, Ryosuke, Fabian, Ladina, Che, Raphael, Jacqueline, and Meta organised a Grand Opening at Löwenbräukunst Zürich. As in a comedia dell’arte, the recognisable figures of the artist, the museum director and the curator opened the exhibition with a speech to a well-informed audience, an extract of which can be viewed below.

READING CIRCLE 3: Culture Strike: Art and Museums in an Age of Protest, discussed at Kunsthaus Zürich

On the 14th of November, Qingyuan, Jingling, Zhishuang, Xingyu, Charlotte, Isaak, Lukas, Dimitri, Nora, Kristina, Chiara and Helena organised four guided tours at Kunsthaus Zürich. Each of them was led by different actors of the museum such as the cleaning team.
