24 February, 2021

Drawing Matter are continuously adding new texts to their website, and this collection begins with a snapshot of writing by women about architectural drawings that appear on the site in May 2021, when there was a total of 686 texts.

Included in this selection of 151 texts are some interesting series, such as Philippa Lewis’ to date 14 episodes of ‘Behind the Lines’, the Alternative Histories exhibition, and a group of texts that resulted from a writing competition in 2020 (another is planned for 2021). There are also reflections by architects Marie-José van Hee, Stephanie Macdonald, Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara, Elizabeth Hatz, Maria Conen, Kaschka Knapkiewicz, Roz Barr, Elena Manferdini, and Sheila O’Donnell, to name a few, as well as a myriad of perspectives on architectural drawings of all types, ages, and interpretation.
