I can remember the anticipation of waiting for my copy of this to arrive. I was finishing my dissertation when I had read reviews of this book and ordered a copy. It was during a time in the 1990s when gender and architecture were a growing theme. This collection of essays made me react with positive interest, but I’m also never entirely sure I agreed with some views. One could say that was a successful conclusion as a student. It did open me to new writers and theorists, and I think the ’90s did start to see a shift in architectural discourse.
