Maristella Casciato on Laura Gallucci
29 January, 2021
‘I was used to changing spaces as if they were clothes and moving walls as if they were lego blocks’, said Laura Gallucci, describing her childish fascination for the love of her life: architecture.
A passionate architect, as committed to craft as she was to high tech. She was naturally minimalist, avoided any concession to the pretty and the picturesque, her aesthetic orientation was more cool than cosy.
The adjective ‘necessary’ in the title of this tribute to her art, describes her skill in bringing together aspects of form, space, and details in responding to the wishes and to the demands of her clients and collaborators alike. ‘Less is more’ was her ethical credo.
She worked hard and lived too short.
