The Barefoot Centre was founded by craftswoman and entrepreneur Barbara Sansoni.

She published her first book on Sri Lankan architecture in 1978, under the Barefoot imprint, called Vihares & Verandas Ceylon. This list includes books edited or written by women about architecture that are on sale via the bookshop she founded.
