The New Ruralities research group organised an exhibition in Brussels, at CIVA and Track (3.7.25–28.8.25). Called IT WAS ALL FIELDS ONCE the exhibition showed a constellation of ideas and discoveries, collaborations and commentators on the changing role and perception of the rural in relation to the city, that the six design units within the universities of ULB, POLITO, UDC, UMinho, UACEG, and ETHZ have encountered and nurtured during their three years of research.

Curators Juan Mas Barcia and Ina Valkanova invited Helen Thomas and through her work with Women Writing Architecture and Tisch Zwei Verein to make a contribution. This took the form of the handmade album that is presented here, with scenes from Women Writing Architecture related to the rural and the activities of the village-based Tisch Zwei Verein.
