Building in Stone Today

by

8 May, 2026

Building in stone has been carried out by humans for many thousands of years. Over the centuries and across the world, techniques have developed, waned and been forgotten and then remembered, becoming newly vital and relevant. The guest editor of Insights June Solstice 2026 is Natália Peťková, who will be exploring the theme of building in stone today. This collection begins with the texts written by women that are included in the bibliography of her doctoral thesis, completed in 2023, but will continue to grow as the subject’s boundaries open up through a search for women’s writing and celebration of the practice of building in stone.

The focus will be a book written by architect Neus García Iñesta with her husband called Construir en marès, and some texts are gathered as research on her work and writing.
